Dogs’ Off-Leash Zones

In order to accommodates the needs of dog owners and their pets while at the same time ensuring that the rest of the park remains on-leash, dogs’ off-leash zones are being built in Earl Bales Park and G. Ross Lord Park. We worked with city staff and the local community to ensure we had the best site option and design possible. This was based on local geography and budgetary restrictions. We have tried to incorporate a wide range of opinions into the final construction.The current status of each off-leash zone is:

Earl Bales Park - Complete

Earl Bales Park Dogs' Off-Leash Opening

The off-leash zone in Earl Bales Park opened in November 2011. It  is south off Sheppard Ave. east of Bathurst St. near Don River Blvd. View a map of the off leash area here.

 

G. Ross Lord Park –  Complete

The off-leash zone in G. Ross Lord Park opened in December 2011. It is located at the south side of the park’s  entrance, includes a small trail (approx. 75 m) and is located next to the parking lot so that dog owners will not have to cross road. View a map of the off-leash zone here.
