Description: Councillor Augimeri and I welcomed students and teachers from the Africentric Alternative School to City Hall. We recognized the students at City Council and read a proclamation from the City of Toronto commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Councillor Thompson also came by to greet the students. I was proud to support the school as a school board trustee when it opened in 2009 in the Ward I represented. The school integrates the diverse perspectives, experiences and histories of people of African descent into the provincially mandated curriculum.
